It has been more than a month of hybernation now...!!!
Let me get back to blogging with a request for your help. As most of you may be aware, voting for the annual weblog awards is currently underway. In fact, the polling will be closed tomorrow January 13, 2009, which means only two days (today inclusive) remain. Voting is online; anyone can vote, subject to one vote per every 24 hours.
India Uncut, the very popular blog by Mr. Amit Varma, is the only nomination from India in the category for best Asian blogs. 'India Uncut' was leading the poll until yesterday by which time another blog started going up on the vote count, somewhat mysteriously.
Seek your wholehearted help - at least 2 votes per person remain, and they may prove to be extremely valuable now..
Here's the link.

I like the way you pitch India Uncut as worth voting for for no reason other than it simply being South Asian. Reminds me of all those reality show contestants who plea for votes because they are Bengali, Assamese, Mumbaikars...
If my remark reminded you of the plea by reality show contestants, then I don't think you are mistaken, except that I was not doing it for me :) Even though the basis of my submission was from this post http://www.indiauncut.com/iublog/article/india-uncut-is-nominated-in-the-2008-weblog-awards/ by the author of 'India-Cut' himself, my intent was to garner votes - no less!!
But let me take a few exceptions, and quite vehemently so.. 1) Nothing in my post did give any explicit or implicit indication that my plea for votes was based ONLY on the fact India Uncut was a South Asian blog, nor did I mean so; 2) I used the expression 'very popular blog', and I hope you know the meaning of 'popular'.. 3) Since I do not follow may reality shows as you probably may do, I can't really vouch for whether contestants actually do say so (that I am Bengali etc.) to get votes; (4) If there is nothing wrong in Americans canvassing for their representatives to be elected to world bodies, if the Far East Asian countries can pitch in their lot behind Ban Ki-Moon in the election to UN Secretaryship, then how come my plea becomes parochial? And even if it is parochial, I don't think I have a problem with that :)
Anyway thanks for commenting :)
